The information below
has been provided to assist members and residents.
As far as possible,
take your problems, complaints and suggestions first
to the “lowest level” as those officers
are best situated to respond to local neighborhood needs.
If that fails, then
you can “climb up
the ladder”.
Phone numbers and names
are as in October 2008. Since all officers are subject
to transfers, the Forum’s website aims to update
these at regular intervals

AGNI
www.agnimumbai.org
AGNI is a non-political,
non-sectarian voluntary moment for good governance.
It is a self-help network of volunteers. By bringing
numerous groups of citizens together, AGNI amplifies
the citizens’ voice in a way that democracy intends
and no politics can ignore. The emphasis is on improving
the quality of life of citizens.
KARMAYOG
http://www.karmayog.org
Karmayog.org is a resource
that enables you to "Improve Your World" by
connecting you with like-minded people and organisations
in your locality, city and world.
CITISPACE
http://www.nagaralliance.org/cs.html
CitiSpace is a forum
that networks more than 500 residents' associations,
community based organisations, NGOs, commercial establishments
and individuals in most of Mumbai's 24 Municipal wards.
It has almost single-handedly taken up the issue of
freeing Mumbai’s roads and footpaths of hawkers
and obstructions. They have taken the matter all the
way to the Supreme Court. If hawkers are lesser and
better regulated, the credit must go to CitiSpace ---
and of course our judiciary.
RIGHT
TO INFORMATION ACT
http://righttoinformation.gov.in/
The Right to Information
Act 2005 mandates timely response to individual citizen’s
requests for information from government and other public
bodies.
Also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_to_Information_Act and
http://www.nyayabhoomi.org/rti/home.htm
for an explanation of how to use the RTI Act, 2005.
The BMC has revised its list of Public Information Officers and Appelate Officers under the Right to Information Act. For D Ward, please use the attached list from October 1, 2009. A suggestion: you may or may not use the name of the Officer (since they are subject to transfer), but you must use the designation and department to which you wish to address your query.
